Where is the best place to buy a boiler
The best place to buy a boiler is possibly the biggest company that sell loads of central heating boilers such as Mr Central Heating.
How long does it take to supply a boiler once I know what I want
Depending where you can buy the boiler you would be looking to get your boiler within 1 to 5-days depending on the availability and the stock.
Is it cheaper to buy a boiler rather than buy it off the gas engineer and is it a good idea
When buying a boiler, it is most likely going to be cheaper to get it directly from the boiler shop rather that getting the engineer to buy it and supply including the boiler fitting service. The reason that the engineer has a mark up on the central heating boiler, is because he is then responsible for making sure that the gas boiler is in one peace. If the customer buys the central heating boiler and there is a problem with it, then it will be the customer responsibility to make sure it is all there and will have to pay for the engineers waste of time, so it is wise to just let the gas safe plumber have his mark us, after all he has to spend an hour or so going through the boiler ordering process.
What is the best boiler I can buy
The best boiler is debatable between lots of different gas safe plumbers, however, we believe the best boiler at the moment is still the Baxi Platinum with a 10-year guarantee with great customer service and just a good all round boiler but also giving you confidence when you buy. This boiler is also becoming widely popular amongst the average customer.
How do I determine which boiler to buy is the best for my home
First of all, you have to budget yourself and know what you can afford, the more you pay, the better the boiler you will get. There maybe a few central heating boilers that are over rated and you can pay far too much without getting the best plumbing advice. You don’t want a gas boiler too small or too big. You need to calculated how many radiators to the volume of water. Having a guarantee on the boiler can be crucial to how long the central heating boiler will last for. Having a longer guarantee doesn’t always mean the central heating boiler will last longer, all it mean is that the manufacture are prepared to take more of a risk on the boiler in question.
How is the central heating boiler graded
At the moment the central heating boiler is not graded unless you live in some other countries. However later this year for the first time ever in the uk, the central heating boiler will be graded in the similar way a fridge freezer and a washing machine is graded. A customer will have more of a choice to choose the grade of the boiler forcing boiler manufactures to make there boiler better and more efficient.
Which boiler has the longest guarantee
At the moment we believe the longest guaranteed boiler is the glow worm who give a 15-year guarantee, but it is always wise to know how you keep up your guarantee, as this can very easily be voided. Glowworm will only guarantee certain boilers if there engineer comes out to service it once every 12-months but can also work out very costly. The next best guarantee is the Baxi Platinum at a 10-year guarantee and can be serviced by any gas safe engineers. If you are wondering on other boilers following suit with there long guarantee then this wont be long before most manufacture give a longer guarantee.
What boiler is the most recommended by gas engineers
The most recommended central heating boilers by engineers we have found in the year of 2015 would be the Baxi Platinum with the 10-year guarantee and a decent price tag that is good for everyone. The prices list below do not include any hidden jobs and will be subject to extra charges.
- Supply & fit a Ideal iMini 30kw £1250 (option 3).
- Supply & fit a Baxi Platinum 28kw £1650 (option 4).
- More of a list coming soon as this list is new.
How long does it take to fit a boiler
To fit a boiler, it would normally take a gas engineer and his helper about 8-hours work, however, do allow for over time or the next day and will take longer if you have the extras such as TRV’s, central heating filter and a power flush for example.
Is there anything else to think about when having a central heating boiler fitted
When having a central heating boiler fitted, you will need to think about having a central heating power flush done and a central heating filter fitted to help maintain the guarantee of the boiler. If the work is done correctly then there is no reason why you shouldn’t get 20-years or more out of the boiler but it is always important to have a regular service every 12-months. You will also need to check that you have TRV’s on each radiator as this is also a part of having your boiler fitted if done correctly. Please check our Thermostatic Fitting Service (coming soon).
Do I need a power flush or a filter when having my central heating boiler fitted
As explained in the last paragraph, having a central heating filter and a central heating power flush done is something to consider but it is very important due to the guarantee of the boiler and to help maintain the energy efficiency of the boiler through its years of use. Later this year we believe boiler manufacture will make it mandatory to have a filter fitted to every boiler.
